Markus Giesler is York University’s youngest tenured marketing professor. He has been recognized as one of Fortune’s young b-school star professors on the rise, Wired’s best recognized experts studying high-technology consumption, and the world’s top 40 business professors under 40. His work, which is focused on market system dynamics and design, has been published in top-tier academic journals such as the Journal of Consumer Research and the Journal of Marketing, and profiled by, among others, the New York Times, Time Magazine, Financial Times, Fast Company, and Marketing Magazine. His weekly marketing column appears at the Huffington Post. He has also been recognized as York University’s most publicly profiled professor and one of Germany’s 30 thought leaders under 30. Markus is an avid piano player. He founded a record label at age 17, which he managed until 2005.

Professor Diane Martin

Diane Martin’s academic research employs ethnographic methods in examining relationships between consumers, communities and culture. Her previous work as a small-business owner has prompted her to study entrepreneurship and market creation. Most recently, Diane’s lifelong passion for the natural environment and the Earth’s wild places has led her to reexamine marketing in the context of the urgent need for sustainable practices in both business and consumer behavior. In her recent textbook, Sustainable Marketing,Diane brings her keen sense for the power of marketing to the problem of how to remain competitive while restoring the Earth’s natural capital and creating greater wellbeing for a global population. She is a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum. Her scholarship is published in numerous journals in marketing and communication, including Consumption, Markets and Culture, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Applied Communication Research, and Journal of Consumer Research.

Ove Jakobsen is professor in Ecological Economics at Bodø Graduate School of Business, University of Nordland, where he is leader and co-founder of Centre for Ecological Economics and Ethics. He holds a Dr. Oecon. degree from NHH (1989) and master degrees in Marketing (1982), Business administration (1987) and Philosophy UiB (1991). He has published a great number of books and articles in ecological economics and ethics nationally and internationally. He gives numerous lectures and speeches based on his research at conferences, seminars and symposiums in business, public administration and NGO’s.
