Johan Arndt Conference 2012
Conference dates: May 30th – June 1st, 2012
Venue: BI Norwegian Business School, Oslo
We are happy to invite you to the 6th Johan Arndt Conference which will be held from May 30th till June 1st at the Oslo Campus of BI Norwegian Business School. This conference, named after the late Norwegian marketing professor Johan Arndt, is Norway’s main forum for research and teaching in marketing. The conference brings together marketing academics and practitioners from throughout Norway to present, listen to, and discuss new research and teaching concepts.
Presentation of scientific work: Call for abstracts
The conference covers all relevant topics in marketing. Broadly speaking, we invite people to present their work in the following three areas:
- Consumer behavior.
- Marketing strategy.
- Modeling in marketing.
Researchers who would like to participate in the conference are invited to send their 3-page papers (including summary and references) electronically to johanarndt2012@bi.no before April 13th, 2012. All submissions will be evaluated based on academic relevance and quality; notifications of acceptance will be given by the end of April.
Presentation of new marketing education ideas: Call for abstracts
The conference also offers the opportunity to share new, innovative ideas about marketing education. These ideas should ideally be aimed at facilitating the dissemination of marketing knowledge through for instance the use of computer applications in marketing courses, innovations in traditional teaching methods, and the use of new media in marketing communications. Teaching ideas should be exemplified in a 3-page paper (including summary and references) which should be sent to johanarndt2012@bi.no before April 13th, 2012. The ideas are evaluated by originality, innovativeness, and academic substance; notifications of acceptance will be given by the end of April.
Writing workshop for PhD candidates and junior faculty
Junior faculty and PhD candidates are invited to participate in a writing workshop on May 30th, prior to the conference. The workshop aims to improve the participants’ writing skills through a careful analysis of their own work. Topics that will be discussed include: strengthening the paper’s positioning and content sessions, assessing and improving the paper’s readability, journal selection, and the review process.
The course will be taught by Eelko Huizingh, Associate Professor of Innovation Management at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Groningen. The number of participants in this seminar is limited to about 15 persons. Hence, participants will be selected on a first-come, first served basis. Admission is free for employees of BI Norwegian Business School; employees from other institutions can participate for NOK 2000.
